Valentine Bunting

 I'm kind of obsessed with banners like this. 

I loved making this one. I picked fabric that felt a little vintage, and I love how it turned out. 

I originally found the inspiration here. She stenciled her letters on, but I liked the look of applique better.

Here's the cool part: I ran the fusible web through my printer with the paper side up so I didn't have to trace the letters on by hand. I felt so smart with this idea. Make sure you print the letters backwards though!

 I did this mock up to practice my blanket stitch length, and to make sure my proportions were right. Good thing I did this first. I put the Wonder Under on the wrong side :) Just iron it all on, and stitch around the heart and the letters. I chose a straight stitch for the letters and a machine blanket stitch for the hearts. You could zig zag, or do whatever you think is cute. 

Then I sewed bias tape on, and that was it. I made my own so it would match that coral pink, but you could make it easy on yourself and just buy some. 

All done. Love it.

Crayon Hearts

 I saw this idea on the Martha Stewart website ages ago. I finally found time to put it together this year. The instructions are here. This would be fun to do with kids (just be careful with the hot stuff). You could do this for any season too-leaves in the fall, shamrocks for St. Patties, you get the idea. 

You just use crayon shavings and wax paper and melt into sheets using your iron. Once it cools, cut out the shape you want. My house smelled like an elementary school art room with all that melting wax :)

 I searched "heart template" in Google and it came up with a million results. I used this one. 

Then put it behind your sheet of wax when it's cool, and trace your design.

Hang them with fishing wire, and you're done. 

It's a nice lovey-dovey touch to our kitchen.

Yarn Valentine Wreath

I got the tutorial for this wreath from here and instead of doing the felt flowers (which is also a great tutorial) I just cut some hearts out of felt and glue-gunned them onto the wreath where I wanted them. 

I think the yarn wreaths are going to be my new addiction because I made this in under an hour, it cost me $7 (wreath was $5 at Joanns, $1 store one was too small) and it was so easy. Plus, if you think these look cute in a picture---they are 10 times cuter in the real life! I love this!

'Be Mine' Banner & "Flower Petal" Topiary

Told ya I had a few more Valentine Crafts to share! I still haven't finished all my V-day decor yet because I'm waiting for our new printer to get here to print off a few things but I will take a picture of the whole "mantel" when I get it down hopefully this week-- I know, I need to get a move on!

'Be Mine' Banner. 

I got me some wooden letters that I liked and painted a few and mod-podged a few with some scrapbook paper. Then I glued it onto some hot pink twine-like ribbon. I really like how it turned out and this will be used for years to come!

"Flower Petal" Topiary

 Remember that amazing heart wreath that I posted from eighteen25? Well, I stole this idea from them...kinda. I decided instead of making a wreath I would make a topiary and a few balls too. 

It is really easy to make: cut yourself some circles out of felt (you need more felt than you think so overstock---this took about 6 8x10 sheets), make them about the size of a standard sized cookie, and then fold in fourths. You can either attach by sticking a straight pin through the corner of the felt and into the Styrofoam ball or hot gluing it down (that's what I did). Don't lay them in a line, stagger them...it make it look better...FYI. Then I stuck a wooden rod into (actually did this before all the felt gluing), covered a tin can with some cute paper and placed the rod into the can and added a few little embellishments. Cute stuff!

EASY Double-Sided Table Runner

I wanted to make something like this for Thanksgiving and Christmas but never got around to it. I went to Joann's today and their holiday fabric was on sale and it was soooo cute so I had to jump on it.

I'm not the biggest decorator for St. Patrick's Day so I decided to do a Valentine/Easter table runner.

It cost about $5 and only took about 15 minutes...and I love it. Perfect!

This is really so simple, you guys. 

Here's how:

Get 3/8 a yard of 2 fabrics of your choice. You can do this any fabric, doesn't have to be holiday but it makes it more fun because you get two out of one! Then take the fabric and iron it and pin it together as best you can with right sides out, don't worry if there is excess fabric and the sides aren't even because you are going to give it a thick 1 inch seem. After you sew it cut off the excess fabric trying to make it even all around and so there is about 1/4 of an inch seem, then snip around the edges and wash to give it a fraded edge-get it? Super easy! That's it!

 The otherside---Easter! Loved that fabric and the best part, the both are glittered a little bit, so fun!
