I like big books...

We have some dear friends who are moving and when I saw this on someone's blog (I can't re-find the exact one I saw, but there are some other fun takes on this here and here), I knew I had to make this for her. I used a freezer paper stencil technique. I had tried this before on a different bag and failed miserably because the bag's fabric was not up to snuff. So, I recommend a good canvas bag and remembering to stick some kind of barrier in the bag to keep paint from seeping through. It makes a great library book bag!

  1. Alright, this is too cute and I would like to see a tutorial on how to use the freezer paper. I've seen it done on tons of stuff but never seen how! Help!!! :)

  2. Here are some good ones http://www.dana-made-it.com/2008/08/tutorial-freezer-paper-stencil-makenna.html and http://www.craftpassion.com/2011/06/freezer-paper-stencil.html I cut the patterns out on my silhouette because there is no way I would be patient enough to use an exacto knife. They also come out cleaner. I also use just regular acrylic paint. It doesn't wash out of clothes. :)
