Here is a very easy tutorial on how to make some cute little flowers to put on pins, headbands...or whatever you like really. I saw a headband with these flowers for $12 somewhere when I was Christmas shopping and I knew I could make it cheaper...I made these for about $2.
Supplies: material of your choice. I used a shear, flowy fabric(1/8 yard makes 5-6 flowers. Clearance sections---booyah), felt, hot glue gun, embellishments of your choice.
Cut your material into about 8 circles of 3 different sizes. My biggest were about the size of a oreo and the smallest were the size of a 50 cent piece. Also cut out a circle of velt about the size you won't your flower to be.
Fold your circles into 4th like this:
Put some hot glue on the tip and press into your felt circle.
Continue this step, using smaller cut-circles the closer you get to the center and add a jewel or embellishment of some sort to the center (if you want).
Here's the end product. I hot glued onto a headband and then placed a smaller piece of velt on the inside to make it look nicer and stay better. I LOVED the way these turned out and made a few for myself. They made the perfect gift for my sister-in-laws. :)
I love this necklace and it was really hard to part from it. I actually saw a necklace like this one day while on Anthropologie.com and then saw a tutorial for how to make it on a blog a few weeks later! Crazy huh? Tutorial found here. This is soooo cheap and simple to make. I think I made it in about a 30 minutes. And LOVE IT! I used "real" lace instead of the clothy lace she used.
Lastly, (PS. Did a lot of handmade stuff for Christmas gifts this year) I made this sweater flower one day because I had some leftover sweater (that sounds weird) and really like how this turned out too. Tutorial found here.
Hope this gives you something do to during the boring month of January! :)
